Wake Up America!

First off, I tagged a few people on Facebook on this note, I don’t want to offend anyone, but if you’re going to be a fan or supporter of McCain 08 I’d love to share my opinion with you… but only if you want to listen. Do what you want, I’m really not trying to force anything down your throat.

I honestly don’t understand people sometimes. How, after 8 years of our country going down the drain can people look at the two presidential candidates and choose to not change anything. One candidate talks about issues while the alternative just talks about the opposition. One provides concrete ideas for change and the other doesn’t offer anything different then what we have now. The policies that John McCain puts forth are the exact policies that we have right now, so how could anything be different when he’s in office? I can honesty say that I can’t begin to fathom how an informed citizen could cast a vote for McCain/Palin. If someone can give me a good solid reason I’d love to hear it.
A friend of mine said something a few years ago and at first I didn’t agree, but now a few years later I can really see the wisdom in it. He said that the Republican party (then my party of choice, I now claim no party affiliation) holds people, especially conservative christians, hostage with issues like abortion and gay marriage. He said that there are many, many people out there that vote based on those issues and those alone. He’s completely right, there are many people who look at Barack Obama’s stance on abortion and immediately count him out. People even take into consideration issues like prayer in school, that have been dead for decades, and cast their vote accordingly. It’s time to really look at the problems in our country and look at what it will take to fix them. Abortion isn’t ever going to be illegal, if you don’t support it then help out programs that give young mothers another way out. Gay marriage is about equality not personal beliefs. No one wants to change your bible they just want to be able to have hospital rights for their loved ones. America is a democracy and it’s policies will never match your beliefs or dogma, it wasn’t built as a Christian nation it was built on the idea of freedom of religion and that means compromise. Not compromise of your beliefs but compromise in the rules we all have to live by.

If you have looked at John McCain’s record on the economy, on health care and foreign relations and still think he would make a better leader then ok. At least look at the issues though, and also look at how he is conducting his campaign, the following video sums it up.

Alright, no more politics for a while.
Everything is good down here, I’m busy with work and school. I have a couple of cool projects I’m working on so I should have some good video to show in the near future.

Okay, I understand your viewpoint and I even am glad to see you passionate about something. I vote for the candidate that most closely aligns with my personal beliefs — which means, yes I’m not voting for someone who believes in abortion or equal family rights for gays. Why? Abortion by any other name is murder. Not a good idea. A nuclear heterosexual family is endorsed by scripture and therefore, my objections to any other type is clear. And by the way: health care is already available for companions and anyone can make their will out to anyone they care to — they just have to do it, not leave it for someday and then die and find out the person they wished to have it doesn’t have any rights. In other words: take responsibility.

And “never going to be illegal”? They said that about prohibition, owning slaves, men taking all their wives property, ….

Love you, looking forward to December. Don’t bail on me.

Mom, when it comes to abortion I’m not trying to say it’s a lost cause, just that there are more productive ways to move the issue ahead.

As for my choice of candidate, if your house is on fire and you also have a leaking faucet I’d say you should call the firemen and leave the plumber for anther day.
Barack Obama will fix the problems in this country that effect people lives every day, John McCain will not.

Please do not insult me like that.
I am my own person and I have my own thoughts and I form my own opinions. I am "an informed citizen". I think I have quite a bit of intelligence and knowledge on such issues. I would prefer it if I were not labeled as "McCain/Palin" supporter. Just because I am a Conservative Republican does not mean I am voting for McCain. I do not agree with most things McCain supports. I am writing in the name of the man who I believe is the best candidate, regardless of who is leading in the polls or has the media headlines for the week. I am, like I said, my own person.
I also think it is incorrect to state that "the Republican party holds people, ESPECIALLY CONSERVATIVE CHRISTIANS (which I am) hostage with issues like abortion and gay marriage.", simply because that is an extremely large and unsafe classification, or assumption. I am for gay marriage. I am aware that most people with my beliefs probably (and highly likely) do not agree with me on that. One of my very best friends is a homosexual and I, without a doubt, support that. Not just him, but everyone in the gay community. Regardless of what the "guidelines" may be, I don't make any decisions based off of other people, or the majority.
God puts whoever He wants into office. Whether it's the "good" guy or the "bad" guy, I identify with Christ first and foremost. The world will fall bad no matter what we try to do to stop it. I don't look to man for peace. McCain, Obama, Clinton, Paul, America is not going to make a 180 no matter who is elected. That's not me being a pessimist, that is me being a realist.
It's taken me a while to respond to this because I didn't want to say anything harsh or rude but reading this really bothered me. I know nobody will ever agree on said things, especially someone with such difference in political views as ourselves.
