God’s Beloved
| Youth Group - Start Today Tomorrow |

Off and on over the past few years I’ve been talking about getting a certain tattoo. It’s really the only thing I’ve ever thought of getting tattooed on my body. I started thinking more seriously about it last year around this time, but just didn’t get myself to actually go through with it. Last week it crept back into my mind as my 25th birthday looms at the end of the month. So, I floated the idea to my parents and asked a few friends what they thought of the idea… then last saturday I just went and did it. I walked into a tattoo parlor by my house, talked to a really talented artist and two hours later it was a part of me.
The tattoo is Hebrew for “Beloved”. Traditionally David means “God’s beloved”, I didn’t really want to just get my name tattooed on my arm, so this is another word that can be used to describe God’s love for us. It’s used in the bible a few times and was professionally translated so thankfully it’s legit. The tattoo reminds me daily that I’m not just loved by those around me, but I am loved in a way I might never fully understand by my benevolent maker. I didn’t do anything to deserve this love, quite the opposite really, but I’m proud to wear a reminder of that on my body.
I know I am dooming myself to a life of explaining my tattoo to anyone who is curious, but thats ok. It’s related to my name, which I love and my faith, which is mine to share anyway.
Work is going well. I hope to have the film in a complete, but rough, form by the time I head up north at the end of May. It’s getting hot here all ready, should hit 100 degrees for the first time this week. :\

Hey there black text forearm tattoo buddy :high5:
But really, looks well done. Grats on taking the plunge, I think everyone should get at least one in their life.

I was really touched by your story with your tattoo. I’ve been thinking getting that myself for awhile now also. Where did you get it professionally translated?

Oh and one more question, Does your tattoo translate to “Gods beloved” or your name? I didn’t understand that part

The Hebrew word I used is explained pretty well here:

Hey there,
I’m due to get this in the next few weeks. It looks great. I’m going to get it on on the side of my arm probably a little smaller. It looks like I nearly went with the female version, which would not have been good.
Glad I saw this and the fact you had translated. You’re 100% it means ‘gods beloved’?

Wow. I have been thinking the same thing as you. I want another tattoo, and i was thinking my name, but then i wanted something with a lot more meaning, so i googled “hebrew beloved”. I’m not sure of the location i want, but i might end up getting something very similar in the near future.
